Narita arrivals, train, and bus

After deplaning, there is a long walk to immigration. At this point you will only have your carry on items with you. The wait in the immigration lounge is typically a half hour or so, though it can be more if many planes arrived just before yours. Once through immigration, you’ll pick up your luggage and go through customs. Once you exit the doors, you will be faced with a choice on how to get to your hotel: take the limo buses or take the train (the Narita express or NEX). The bus is often slower as it may encounter traffic, but stops at individual hotels. The train is faster, but buying a ticket, and then getting from the train station to the hotel may require a taxi ride. So for first time visitors, the limo bus is likely the way to go.
